Progress!

This week I was absent because of Science MSA testing. I was still able to make headway on my Ninja vs Samurai animation. It looks like a Matrix fight scene. I figured out how to implement the camera and different point of views to make my animation look more realistic.  Regarding my basketball game, I haven't made much progress. I’m using this website to help me (http://www.cs.duke.edu/csed/alice09/tutorials.php#advanced). It is extremely efficacious and helpful. There are a plethora of tutorials ranging from beginner to advance. There are projects like Alice Pong and a wizard collecting gems game you can make. The next week I hope to create most of the basketball game. Oh and I have a couple questions for you guys. Who should win the Ninja vs Samurai fight, the ninja, samurai, or someone else?  Please vote in the comments. All right bye you guys! I wonder if anyone reads this blog. ;(

Live long and prosper!

Progress?

This week we had Science MSA so we weren't in Computer Class at all. I wasn't able to work on my project at home. However, I have started brainstorming some ideas and will start to read  the Alice tutorial book I have. My plan for next week is to start creating a mini game and a short animation. My idea for the mini game is going to be like an arcade style basketball shooting game. My animation will be something along the lines of a ninja vs samurai fight, which I've actually started on a little. Although this week was not the most efficient or productive hopefully I'll be able to get going next week.

First Post

During this 8 week project, I want to learn and have a firm understanding of programming theory. To accomplish this goal, I’m using Alice. Alice is an object-oriented programming language with an IDE (Integrated Development Environment) that was created by professors at Carnegie-Mellon. It is the first 3D game software and helps people understand Java better. In fact is proven to raise students (in college) with no programming experience’s grade from a C to B. The whole purpose that Alice was created was for teaching programming. Some people may think that Alice is intrinsic. The truth is within Alice users can create methods, loops, parameters, variables, conditions, and events by dragging and clicking.
I will be creating a few animation shorts and a couple mini-games. Alice can be used to program social interactions between characters so I plan to convey that through animations. I can create mini-games using the functions within Alice. I will also try to create a FPS view of a person walking through a city. It will be very complex. By next week I want to have created half of the city and start on my animation.
